A man from Ushewokunze in Harare South has been arraigned before the court for raping a minor.
Praise Maturure, 22, appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje at the Harare Magistrates' Court charged with rape.
The court heard that in October 2022 the complainant, who was 14 years of age then, went to fetch water at a local well which is housed in a shed.
When the complainant entered the shed, she did not know that Maturure was inside.
Maturure took advantage of the fact that there was no one in the shed and pushed the complainant to the ground and forcibly removed her clothes before raping her without protection.
The complainant screamed and shouted for help and her brother rushed and saw Maturure on top of the complainant while she was fighting to free herself.
As soon as Maturure saw the complainant’s brother, he stood up putting his trousers back up.
The matter was reported to the police and the complainant was referred to hospital for medical attention.
Maturure was ordered to approach the High Court for bail.
He will appear in court on May 27, 2023.
