Three armed robbers attacked a family in Pumula North suburb and stole US$145, R700 and ZWL$6 000 and two cellphones.
The robbers were armed with a machete, an okapi knife and a rope.
The incident happened on Sunday last week shortly after 8pm.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and appealed for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
According to a close relative, the robbers got into the living room through an unlocked door and found the pair watching TV.
“One of the robbers slapped her and thrashed her with a rope. They warned her not to scream as they demanded money while threatening to kill her if she did not surrender cash to them,” said the relative.
“Her younger brother led them to the bedroom and they took US$145, R700, $6 000 and two cellphones,” said the family member.
