Scottland's remarkable Premier Soccer League campaign faces one of its biggest tests on Sunday when the log leaders travel to a packed Barbourfields Stadium to face Highlanders in a match carrying huge implications for both the title race and the record books.

Norman Mapeza's side have won nine consecutive league matches without conceding a goal, a run that has opened a seven-point lead over second-placed Hardrock at the top of the table.

Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari believes his side has what it takes to halt the visitors' impressive run.

"We all know Scottland are a good team and they have quality everywhere.

"Coming back to us, we have been playing well but failing to turn our performances into victories.

"Football is played over 90 minutes, and we expect our supporters to be behind the team for the full 90 minutes."

Benjani's confidence is based on encouraging performances despite his side's inconsistency in front of goal. Highlanders have looked organised defensively in recent weeks but have been frustrated by a string of draws after failing to convert promising chances.

Mapeza, meanwhile, has moulded Scottland into one of the league's most balanced teams. He recently said the players are beginning to fully understand his philosophy after months of adjustment.

"The signs are showing, but we still have a long way to go," said Mapeza.

Following last week's victory over TelOne, Mapeza praised the collective effort of his experienced squad.

"The front four have been fantastic. Even in midfield, Shadreck Shidolo and Msebe have been playing well. The defence has also been solid, but we can't take anything away from Musona and Khama; their contribution has been massive."

Sunday's encounter could come down to which philosophy prevails. Scottland have built their success on defensive discipline and ruthless efficiency in front of goal. Their backline, led by Peter Muduhwa and Kevin Moyo, has provided the platform for the club's title charge, while Musona and Khama Billiat have consistently delivered in attack.

Their biggest challenge has been turning possession and chances into goals, something Benjani has openly acknowledged. Against a Scottland side that rarely offers opponents clear-cut opportunities, Bosso cannot afford to be wasteful.
