
A Harare woman has been sentenced to five years in prison after police recovered more than 8.6kg of dagga from her Hatcliffe home following a tip-off.
Easther Beans, 34, was convicted of possessing dagga by the Harare Magistrates' Court. Two years of her sentence were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour, leaving her with an effective three-year prison term.
The court heard that on April 13, 2026, police received information that Beans was selling drugs from her residence.

Officers kept the house under surveillance before stopping Beans after she got off a bus carrying a satchel. A search of the bag led to the recovery of three cobs of dagga.
Police said Beans then led officers to her home, where they recovered 10 large sachets of dagga hidden inside a kitchen pot. More packages of the drug were found in a bedroom during the search.
She was arrested at the scene and later convicted of unlawful possession of dagga.
