Former legislator, Psychology Maziwisa, who was believed to be on the run, has been arrested.

Maziwisa was arrested yesterday and appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts where he was remanded in custody.

He was originally arrested in 2018, together with jailed former television presenter Oscar Pambuka, after they were fraudulently awarded a tender to do public relations work for Zesa Holdings under their firm, Fruitful Communications (Pvt) Ltd.

Former Energy and Power Development minister Samuel Undenge facilitated the tender. At that time, the power utility had its own functional public relations department.

Undenge was convicted for abuse of office.

On the other hand, Maziwisa and Pambuka were convicted of fraud, but were later released after they noted an appeal at the High Court.

Maziwisa’s co-accused, Pambuka, is already serving a two-and-a-half year jail term for the offence following his conviction this week by Mbare magistrate Nyasha Vitorini.
