
A 35-year-old Mufakose woman is facing human trafficking charges after police allegedly found her in possession of three children believed to have been brought into Zimbabwe from South Africa under suspicious circumstances.
Yemurai Gandari was arrested in Harare following a police operation triggered by information linking her to suspected cross-border child trafficking.
According to information presented in court, authorities received a tip-off on May 16, 2026 alleging that the woman had transported three children from South Africa into Zimbabwe. Police responded and apprehended her while she was with the children.

Prosecutors told the court that the children included two infants believed to be South African nationals aged eight months, as well as a four-year-old child suspected to be a Zimbabwean national. The court heard that the infants were at an age where they should be breastfeeding but were not being breastfed at the time of the arrest.
The four-year-old child was described as being of school-going age.
Investigators further alleged that the accused failed to produce identity documents for any of the children when requested by authorities.
It is alleged that the woman entered Zimbabwe with the children on May 5, 2026.
The matter remains under investigation as authorities work to establish the identities of the children and the circumstances surrounding their movement across the border.
