A Harare woman appeared in court accused of defrauding her friend of US$13 500 meant for the purchase of a residential stand in Westlea.
Susan Charewa (46), of Aspindale Park, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing theft of trust property charges after allegedly converting the money to her personal use instead of paying the land developer.

The court heard that the complainant, Patience Makuvire, entrusted Charewa to handle payments after she confirmed that stands being sold by Cabox Land Developer were genuine.
In November 2025, Makuvire allegedly handed over US$13 500 for the stand. However, after repeated requests for proof of payment, Charewa reportedly became evasive.
Makuvire later approached the developer and was informed that no payment had been received.
The complainant reportedly lost US$13 500.
Charewa was remanded to May 28, 2026, for further proceedings.
