Man Appears in Court Over US$1.9 Million Fraud Allegations

 

A local man has appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing fraud and forgery allegations involving US$1.9 million.

Simbarashe Tamayi is accused of manipulating company documents for personal gain.

The complainant, Youssof Abduraman of Brooks Drive, Hillside, alleges that Tamayi forged documents belonging to Countervest Investments Private Limited, a company in which Abduraman has interests.

According to court documents, on July 14, 2025, Tamayi, acting with an accomplice who is still at large, allegedly forged company records by altering the directorship and shareholding structure to reflect himself and Brian Ncube as the new owners.

Tamayi is further accused of appointing himself company secretary without authorisation.

The alleged actions are said to have resulted in a financial loss of US$1.9 million to Abduraman, with no recovery having been made to date.

Tamayi is expected to return to court on March 7, 2026, for further proceedings.
