
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested several suspects across the country in a series of coordinated operations targeting unlawful possession, cultivation and trafficking of dangerous drugs, seizing illicit substances valued at approximately US$80 000.
In a press statement dated 16 February 2026, police said the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to curb drug and illicit substance abuse for the safety and security of Zimbabweans.
On February 15, 2026, police in Plumtree intercepted a Toyota Quantum vehicle and arrested Msawenkosi Ndlovu (49) and Vengai Chawa (41) for unlawful possession of 5,124 bottles (100ml each) of BronCleer cough syrup and 4,170 bottles (100ml each) of Astra Pain cough syrup. The illicit substances were valued at US$80,000.

On the same day, police in Wedza arrested Emanuel Busemani (28) at Plot 7 Investment Farm, Melfort, Goromonzi, in connection with the unlawful cultivation of dagga. Separately, on 16 February 2026, In Bubi, Lacken Tshuma (55) and Owner Muleya (32) were arrested at Inunwa Ranch, also for unlawful cultivation of dagga.
Meanwhile, on February 13, 2026, Tinashe Mero Shoko (22) and Eliot Badza (33) were arrested at a house in Garikai, Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge, after police recovered 100 kilogrammes of dagga.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterated that the fight against drug abuse, peddling and trafficking will continue unabated. The police urged members of the public to continue supplying information on drug lords, dealers and criminal syndicates involved in drug and substance abuse.
