
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested two men accused of drug peddling and trafficking along the busy Harare–Beitbridge Road near Bubi, in a case that has raised serious concerns about impersonation and abuse of authority.

The suspects have been identified as Norest Jingura, 35, a bogus police officer, and Alison Maredza, 43, a member of the security services.
According to police, the duo was travelling towards Harare in a Toyota Hilux, registration number AGP 1412, which is reportedly owned by Maredza. Jingura was dressed in full police uniform and wearing Assistant Inspector rank badges at the time of arrest.

The vehicle was intercepted by the ZRP National Crack Team, which recovered 120 cobs of dagga during the operation.
Police have since launched comprehensive investigations to determine how Jingura obtained the police uniform and insignia, amid fears of potential impersonation and wider criminal networks.
Authorities have reiterated their stance against drug peddling and trafficking, warning that anyone found abusing public office, impersonating law enforcement, or engaging in narcotics distribution will face the full force of the law.
The Harare–Beitbridge corridor remains one of Zimbabwe’s busiest trade and transit routes, making it a frequent target for illicit activities.
The ZRP has urged members of the public to report suspicious activities as the fight against drug trafficking intensifies.
