Glen Norah Robbery Suspect Arrested After Co-Accused’s Tip-Off

 

A 31-year-old Highfields resident, Daglai Tinashe Mahati, has appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing armed robbery charges.

Mahati is accused of participating in a daring heist at Tech Centre in Glen Norah, Harare, on December 10, 2025.

According to the State, Mahati, Ngonidzashe Gwara—who is already on remand—and three other accomplices who are still at large allegedly armed themselves with an unidentified pistol and drove to the shop in an unidentified vehicle.

Upon arrival, the group allegedly stormed into the shop and ordered the complainants to lie on the ground at gunpoint.

The gang is said to have made off with a cash box containing US$1,831 and several mobile phones, including Itel S24, Redmi 15C and Samsung M06 models, valued at an undisclosed amount.

Gwara was arrested on January 13, 2026, and allegedly implicated Mahati as his accomplice.

He is said to have led detectives to Mahati’s residence in Highfields, resulting in his arrest.

Mahati is set to appear in court again on February 1, 2026.
