Political activist Jim Kunaka appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court over the weekend facing charges of incitement to commit public violence, linked to his alleged role in organising an anti-government demonstration known as the "One Million Men March."
Kunaka, who did not enter a plea, appeared before provincial magistrate Sharon Rakafa. The State opposed bail, and he was remanded in custody pending a full bail hearing.
Prosecutor Dzidzai Josiah told the court that Kunaka, acting in coordination with suspects already on remand and others still at large, conspired to mobilise the public to participate in an unsanctioned protest against President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The demonstration was reportedly planned for October 17, 2025 at Robert Gabriel Mugabe Square in Harare and in Mutare. Organised by activist Blessed Runesu Geza, the march sought to denounce alleged corruption, criminal abuse of office and constitutional violations by the President.

It is alleged that Kunaka and his co-accused printed and distributed more than 7,000 flyers promoting the march, bearing slogans such as “STOP THE LOOTING – ZIMBABWE IS NOT FOR SALE” and “FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17, 8am – ROBERT MUGABE SQUARE.”
The flyers were allegedly distributed across multiple Harare locations, including the CBD, Machipisa Shopping Centre, Mashwede Service Station, Tichagarika Shops in Glenview, and Budiriro 1 Shops.
Police, acting on a tip-off, later tracked a silver Toyota Aqua (registration AGI 8393) believed to have been used to distribute the flyers. The vehicle was intercepted along Patrenda Road in Glenview 3, leading to the arrest of several suspects, while Kunaka reportedly fled.
Approximately 7,200 flyers were recovered from the vehicle and submitted as evidence.
Several of Kunaka’s alleged accomplices are already on remand under Harare Magistrates’ Court CRB numbers HREPN 8848/25 and HREPN 8980/25, and Mbare Magistrates’ Court CRB 7049/25.
