Insurance Officer Vanishes After Stealing Over US$16k

Police are hunting for a 23-year-old insurance officer accused of defrauding his employer of more than US$16 000 through an elaborate receipt duplication scam.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched a nationwide appeal for information that could lead to the arrest of Kupakwashe Ralph Dumba, who is wanted in connection with a case of fraud involving ZiG$484,548.90 (approximately US$16,152).

According to police, Dumba allegedly committed the offence while employed as an insurance sales and marketing officer between July 1 and December 31, 2024.

Investigations revealed that he generated duplicate point-of-sale receipts from genuine transactions for motor vehicle insurance and licences. He allegedly pocketed the proceeds from these duplicated payments, leaving the company short of thousands of dollars.
