A Harare magistrate has issued a warrant of arrest for Robert Mugabe Jr, 33, after he failed to appear in court today for his trial on charges of possessing dangerous drugs.
Mugabe Jr — son of the late former president Robert Gabriel Mugabe — was expected to stand trial before Magistrate Lisa Mutendereki, but did not turn up. The court orderly called his name three times outside the courtroom before the magistrate authorised the warrant.
He was arrested on October 1 while driving a Honda Fit along Sam Nujoma Street Extension. A police search allegedly uncovered:

Three witnesses who were present to testify were advised they will be summoned once the accused has been located.
This is a developing story.
