Zambezi 7's challenge tournament returns

 

The 5th edition of the Zambezi 7's Challenge Tournament is set to kick off on November 8-9, 2025, at Harare Sports Club, promising thrilling rugby action and community engagement.

Organized by Zambezi Lager, a brand of Delta Beverages, the tournament has grown into a premier rugby event, attracting top talent from across Africa and beyond.

This year's lineup features an expanded field, including local clubs Mutare Sports Club, Old Miltonians, Old Georgians Sports Club, Old Hararians Sports Club, Pitbulls, and Zimbabwe Republic Police. The women's tournament will showcase five international teams, with Kenya making its debut, joining Zambia and Botswana.

The main event will feature Zambezi Cheetahs, the defending champions, facing off against Kenya and Zambia's national teams. A total prize pool of $14,500 is up for grabs, with $5,000 each for the men's and women's cup winners.

"We are thrilled to see the Zambezi Challenge Tournament grow and embrace inclusivity by welcoming more local clubs," said Delta Corporation in a statement. "This initiative elevates the competitive spirit and strengthens community engagement and sports development in our region."

 

The tournament has a rich history, with past winners including Germany (2022), Botswana Spartans (2021), and Zimbabwe's Zambezi Cheetahs (2023-2024).
