Football fervour will take centre stage in Masvingo on 2 November 2025 when FC Wangu Mazodze clash with Masvingo United in the Mayor’s Charity Cup at Mucheke Stadium,an event launched to support the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund.
Gates will open at 11AM, with a curtain raiser match between Shine Shine Queens and Mucheke Queens scheduled for 12:30PM.

The fund seeks donations in cash or kind to provide food hampers, clothing, and essential items to the elderly, orphans, people with disabilities, and struggling families during the festive season.
Speaking during the launch, Mayor Tabe highlighted the importance of compassion, solidarity, and community responsibility, urging residents and corporate partners to support the initiative. He said the festive period should be a time of unity and collective generosity, especially for those facing hardship.
“Let us stand together in the spirit of Ubuntu and give hope where it is needed most,” he said, encouraging the public to take part in both the football event and the wider donation campaign.
