MWOS has climbed to third place on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League log after a narrow 1-0 win over Kwekwe United at Ascot Stadium. Billy Veremu's decisive header just before halftime separated the two sides, lifting the Norton-based outfit to 52 points, four points behind log leaders Scottland.
The win was a testament to MWOS's determination and resilience, as they dominated the match but struggled to capitalize on their chances. Lloyd Mutasa's men created numerous opportunities to widen the margin but were left frustrated by wasteful finishing.

"We started the match with the goal of securing survival, and once that was achieved, we set our sights on the top eight, and now we are aiming to finish among the top four," Mutasa said after the match. "I'm pleased that we are currently in that bracket because I believe we merit it."
Kwekwe United had a bright start, pressing high and creating early openings, but their failure to capitalize proved costly. Despite their dominance, MWOS couldn't kill off the contest and nearly paid the price late on when substitute Clive Mushori almost rescued a point for Kwekwe with a curling free-kick.
Kwekwe coach Masimba Dinyero admitted his side had been outplayed, saying, "We started well and should have capitalized, but the goal we conceded was soft. After that, my players never recovered, and the energy drained out of them."
The win has kept MWOS's title chase alive, and they will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches.
