
On the eve of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, all roads lead to Harare Sports Club, where Zimbabwe will take on Uganda this afternoon. At the heart of it all is captain Sikandar Raza, the man tasked with steering Zimbabwe back onto the world stage.

Raza, a seasoned campaigner and one of Zimbabwe’s celebrated cricketers, carries both the weight of expectation and the belief of a nation. Speaking ahead of the crucial opener, he exuded confidence about his team’s preparation. “We feel pretty confident, not just myself but the whole team as well,” Raza said. “Zimbabwe Cricket has given us enough games with good quality opposition.”
The qualifiers, set to run from 26 September to 4 October 2025, present Zimbabwe with an opportunity to turn their preparation into results.
