AirZim Makes Harare–Mutare Trip Permanent

Air Zimbabwe has announced that its Harare–Mutare–Victoria Falls service, initially introduced for delegates attending the recent Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanani World Tourism Expo, will now become a permanent feature on its schedule.

The airline said overwhelming demand for the temporary flights proved the viability of the route, which links the capital, Mutare’s Grand Reef Aerodrome, and Victoria Falls. One-way fares are pegged at US$85, while return tickets will cost US$170.

Air Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer Edmund Makona described the development as a turning point in the carrier’s recovery plan.

“This route has evolved from an event-specific service to a permanent arrangement, providing essential air access to the Eastern Highlands. It shows Air Zimbabwe is listening to the market and responding with agility,” Makona said.

The decision comes as the airline continues efforts to rebuild after years of financial struggles, grounded fleets, and a diminished regional presence.

Makona said the new service demonstrates AirZim’s role in connecting communities and driving the national tourism agenda.

“We are proud to serve as a bridge, linking communities, enabling trade, and showcasing Zimbabwe’s breathtaking destinations.

This is not just a route; it’s a lifeline for tourism and a commitment to Zimbabwe’s national development goals,” he added.
