The Shipping and Freight Agents Association of Zimbabwe (SFAAZ) has been urged to revamp its training curriculum to keep pace with emerging trends in international trade, supply chains and customs.
Speaking at the SFAAZ annual graduation ceremony held at Rainbow Towers, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Dr. Thomas Utete Wushe said the industry needed versatile and agile professionals able to adapt to shifting global demands.
“I therefore, exhort the SFAAZ Training Committee, colleges and the teaching staff to further infuse salient dynamics of the emerging trade, commerce, supply chain, customs realities into the curriculum,” Dr. Wushe said.
He also challenged professionals in the sector to take a stronger stance against counterfeit and fake products entering the country.
“Professionals in the industry should also be alive to the challenges of counterfeit and fake products being imported into the country and critically explore how best to employ their skills and play a role in addressing this challenge so as to safeguard the health of the citizens,” he said.
The ceremony honoured the achievements of graduates expected to play a key role in transforming Zimbabwe’s freight and logistics industry.
SFAAZ is recognised as the country’s leading body for shipping, clearing and forwarding agents, offering professional training and spearheading integrity and innovation in logistics and trade.
