Vice President General (Rtd) Dr. Constantino Chiwenga has commended higher learning institutions for their crucial role in human capital development, highlighting the nexus between education and development. Speaking at the Arupe Jesuit University Academic opening assembly, Dr. Chiwenga lauded the university's commitment to producing graduates who are not only intellectually capable but also ethically grounded and socially responsible.

Dr. Chiwenga noted that the university's academic programs are aligned with the government's Education 5.0 philosophy, which emphasizes the integration of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the learning process. He commended the Jesuit Society and the Roman Catholic Church for their role in advancing higher and tertiary education in the country, saying they are nurturing students grounded in high moral values.

The Vice President urged new students to grasp the values of the institution, which include commitment to service. He emphasized that Arupe Jesuit University plays a pivotal role in producing graduates who are not only intellectually competent but also ethically grounded and socially responsible. Dr. Stephen Buckland, Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, encouraged students to fully immerse themselves in the institution's ethos, which is essential for personal growth and future contributions to the country.

New students focusing on different disciplines undertook an induction pledge, expressing their hopes and aspirations. One student said, "This university will mould me not only academically, but also spiritually." Another student noted, "I wish to contribute meaningfully to society after this course on software engineering." A student from Kenya added, "I come from Kenya, and I hope that after my studies, I will be a responsible man."

Arupe Jesuit University is a private, Catholic, and multicultural higher education institution that was established in the early 1990s. The university was founded as Arupe College in 1994 and was awarded university status in 2018, allowing it to award degrees. The institution's commitment to developing graduates who are intellectually capable, ethically grounded, and socially responsible is in line with the government's vision for education and development.
