An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal altercation near Nando’s in Harare.
Tapiwa Jackson appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Court facing murder charges. He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court and is expected to return to court on August 20, 2025.
The State alleges that on July 25, Jackson and the now-deceased man were involved in an argument at the corner of Samora Machel Avenue and 6th Street, near Nando’s.
During the altercation, Jackson allegedly pushed the man, causing him to fall onto the tarmac.
The deceased later went home and, at around 4:00 PM, informed his son that he had been assaulted by Jackson. His condition reportedly worsened during the night, and on July 26, his son found him unresponsive.
He was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital by officers from ZRP Epworth, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
A postmortem revealed that the cause of death was subdural haemorrhage and assault.
