A Chegutu woman and her tenant appeared before the Chegutu Magistrates’ Court yesterday, facing chilling murder charges in connection with the death of her ex-husband, a local taxi operator. Apirizi Sekai (41) and Munyaradzi Munyaradzi (24) were remanded in custody until July 30 and advised to seek bail at the High Court.
Authorities allege that Sekai orchestrated the brutal killing of her former husband, Aleck Sinoia, following a protracted dispute over infidelity and property issues stemming from their separation. She is accused of approaching her tenant, Munyaradzi, and soliciting his help in finding individuals to carry out the murder.
According to court documents, Munyaradzi allegedly contacted Cleopas Gomarara, who in turn enlisted a man identified only as "Jefu" and other accomplices who are still at large.
The suspects are believed to have lured Sinoia under the guise of needing a taxi ride to Chegutu Hospital. Once ambushed, they allegedly deflated the car’s tyres before savagely stabbing Sinoia multiple times. The attackers then fled the scene. It is further alleged that the hitmen received a payment of US$200 for the murder.
