A federal jury in New York has delivered a mixed verdict in the high-profile criminal trial of music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs. While Combs was acquitted of the most severe charges — including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking — he was found guilty on two counts related to the transportation of individuals for prostitution.
The outcome spares the 55-year-old from a potential life sentence. However, he still faces a maximum of 20 years behind bars, with sentencing pending.
The defense team is pushing for Combs to be released while he awaits sentencing, a request the judge will consider after reviewing submissions from both sides.
Combs displayed a mixture of relief and gratitude after the verdict was read. He bowed his head in prayer, clapped toward the courtroom gallery, and shared emotional moments with family members, some of whom were seen in tears.
His legal team, visibly moved, embraced one another as the gallery applauded.
Cassie Ventura, Combs’ former partner and one of the key accusers in the case, was at the center of the trial.
Although the jury did not convict Combs on the sex trafficking charge involving Ventura, her lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, emphasized that her courage played a pivotal role in launching the criminal investigation. Wigdor stressed that while they are grateful for the two convictions, the outcome is not the justice Ventura hoped for after enduring a decade of alleged abuse.
