PSL has announced changes to its 2025 season fixture schedule, with matchday 18 now confirmed for the weekend of June 28–29. The move is aimed at minimizing congestion in the latter stages of the season and accommodating multiple competitions on the horizon.

In an internal memorandum by Acting Chief Executive Officer Rodwell Thabe and addressed to all PSL clubs, the league confirmed that early scheduling is necessary to manage the crowded fixture calendar. “This is to enable the clubs to ease off the expected fixture congestion that will occur in the later stages of the season when we commence the Chibuku Super Cup fixtures,” the memo stated.

Thabe also highlighted concerns over midweek fixtures, which have proven to be challenging for clubs due to travel logistics. “We are still scheduled to partake in a few unavoidable midweek fixtures which will be published in due course,” he explained.

The PSL is also preparing for additional obligations, as it anticipates further commitments stemming from yet-to-be-confirmed ZIFA Cup and CHAN fixtures.

These competitions, while not yet officially included in the current calendar, are being planned by the ZIFA and could introduce even more midweek matches.

“There is the potential for more mid-week scheduling than expected,” Thabe noted, acknowledging the league's efforts to maintain balance and minimize disruption for clubs and players.

Despite the busy schedule, the league has pledged to observe FIFA calendar breaks for local matches in September, October, and November, where possible. “The league will however endeavour to observe breaks for local matches during the FIFA Calendar window,”
