Veteran Zimbabwean goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has  returned to the Warriors squad following a string of outstanding performances for Magesi FC in the South African Premiership.

The 34-year-old was recently recalled by national team coach Michael Nees ahead of Zimbabwe’s upcoming international friendlies.

Chipezeze, who has been a standout performer this season, particularly caught the eye during the Carling Black Label Cup. He was named Man of the Match in three consecutive games, cementing his status as one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in the league.

His consistency and leadership between the posts played a crucial role in Magesi FC’s solid run of form, prompting Nees to bring him back into the national fold.

“I would love to play for the national team again,” Chipezeze said, expressing his enthusiasm about the opportunity to don the Warriors jersey once more.

Zimbabwe is set to face Burkina Faso on June 6, 2025, in Morocco, followed by another friendly against Niger on June 10, also in Morocco.

These matches form part of the Warriors’ preparations as they aim to rebuild and strengthen their squad under Nees' leadership.

Chipezeze last featured for Zimbabwe in 2021 during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Algeria.
