Zim Names Squad for Historic Test Tour to England

Zimbabwe Cricket has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming one-off Test match against England, scheduled for 22–25 May 2025 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. This match marks Zimbabwe’s first Test appearance on English soil since 2003, making it a landmark occasion for the Chevrons.

The squad features a blend of experience and youth, with three changes made following the recent 1-1 Test series draw against Bangladesh. Star all-rounder Sikandar Raza returns to the side, replacing Johnathan Campbell, while Clive Madande reclaims his place as back-up wicketkeeper after recovering from injury, taking over from Nyasha Mayavo. Fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri also returns to the lineup in place of leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa, as the selectors look to capitalise on England’s traditionally seam-friendly conditions.

Zimbabwe Head Coach Justin Sammons expressed confidence in the squad, urging his players to embrace the challenge and believe in their ability to compete against top-tier opposition.

“In terms of performance, I expect us to play to a standard that can compete with one of the best teams in the world,” Sammons said. “I really want to see the guys walking out there believing that they belong, embracing and enjoying the moment.”

Following the England fixture, Zimbabwe will face South Africa in a four-day match from 3–6 June at Arundel. The encounter will serve as a crucial warm-up for the Proteas ahead of their ICC World Test Championship final clash against Australia at Lord’s.

The Zimbabwean squad is set to depart for England on Friday to begin preparations for the historic encounter.
