The Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda has urged Members of Parliament (MPs) to effectively play their oversight role in order to ensure that the country’s national budget is deployed transparently and efficiently.
Mudenda said this while addressing a post-budget consultative meeting attended by legislators and economic experts, with the aim of unpacking the national budget presented by Finance and economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube on Thursday last week.
“Nothing can stop us from achieving our aspiration in Vision 2030 if we assiduously implement the budget as one of the assured steps to attain our vision,” said Adv Mudenda.
The meeting was held to ensure MPs debate the national budget in Parliament from an informed position.
