A woman from Warren Park, Harare, Beaulah Zimondi (33) was remanded in custody by Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere when she appeared before him for organising an armed robbery against her married lover.

Allegations against Zimondi are that hired four men to rob construction businessman Jonathan Gapare who she had been in a relationshipp with since 2020. Zimondi felt that Gapare was was not providing her satisfactory financial support.

Gapare is alleged to have planned the robbery with four accomplices Daniel Mutasa, Taurai Pangai and two others identified as Sir Calaz and Gunners who are still at large.

After several meetings to plan the robbery, the five met  at Zimondi’s house on October 29 at night. Zimondi and Gapare lived near each other. The four accomplices then went to Gapare’s house the next morning.

They introduced themselves to Gapare and claimed they had been sent by one of his clients, Dingilwazo Moyo, to collect money.

Gapare took them into his house where they produced pistols and tied all occupants of the house using shoelaces and cables.

They stole US$1 490, four mobile phones and electric gadgets before exiting the house through a back door and scaling a precast wall.
