Two Ruwa residents have been remanded in custody to 8 December for theft of a Mazda Demio.

Jeffrys Harurapwi (22) and Peace Musekiwa (20)  of Eastview in Ruwa were summoned to the Magistrates’ Court charged with theft of a motor vehicle as defined in Section 113 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23 as read with Section 2 of the Road Traffic Act Chapter 13:11.

The court was intimated that on 6 December, 2021, during the night, Harurapwi and Musekiwa proceeded to the complainant’s house and a silver Mazda Demio which had all its windows closed and doors locked.

Inside the motor vehicle was a grinder, a drill blow touch, four shift spanners and a tape measure. The matter was reported to Ruwa police. On 13 September, 2022, around 1100 hours, detectives from CID Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS) Harare, used the information they had and arrested Nomatter Chenhara, who is Harurapwi’s wife, leading to the recovery of the stolen motor vehicle.

Chenhara was interviewed and she implicated Harurapwi and Musekiwa as the owners of the motor vehicle, leading to their arrest at Harare Remand Prison.

Magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure, who presided over the matter, remanded the two in custody to 8 December 2022.
