The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested six armed robbers who have been terrorising farms in Karoi.
“The armed robbers are linked to an armed robbery case where three security guards were attacked before a satchel with some valuables was stolen at Velmont Farm,” police said.
Leon Hondoma (31), Liverton Gwinji (23), Lovemore Chikengezha (28), Dzingai Magunda (41), Isaac Munyaradzi Jonga (34) and Munyaradzi Sandako (28) were arrested in connection with armed robbery cases targeting farms in and around Karoi.
The arrest led to the recovery of the suspects’ get-away vehicle, a lorry registration number ACO 2999, the stolen satchel, catapult and an okapi knife.
Meanwhile, police in Inyathi arrested two armed robbers who attacked a complainant with machetes and knobkerries.
“Police arrested Mandlenkosi Bhebhe (34) and Brighton Dube (23) in connection with a case of robbery in which the complainant was attacked with knobkerries and machetes before US$1 500 cash and a cellphone were stolen on 22 November, 2022 at a bus stop at Joes Business Centre,” police said.
The arrest led to the recovery of the stolen cellphone as well as machetes and knobkerries, which were used to attack the complainant.
