A 56-year-old woman has been taken to court for allegedly defrauding a complainant of US$55,500 in a botched land deal. Sheilla Gondo, of Adylyn Park, Westgate, appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Court facing fraud charges.
Gondo was remanded in custody until October 21.
The State alleges that from October 27, 2023, to date, at stand number 3832 Mabelreign, Harare, Gondo, in collaboration with Shepherd Katuruza—who is already on remand—and two other accomplices still at large, falsely claimed ownership of the property.
The court heard that Gondo advertised the land through Own Your Home Real Estate Agents, convincing the complainant to pay US$55,500 for the stand. However, after receiving the money, Gondo failed to transfer the property to the buyer.
The case is ongoing, with further developments expected at the next hearing.
