A man who allegedly lied that he was still in the employ of Abhu Dhabi Investments and received US$5 425 payment for products from the company before disappearing with the money, has been denied bail.
Emmanuel Muzariri, 28, of Domboshava appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with fraud.
He was ordered to appear in court on April 15 for bail.
The complainant in this matter is Unity Nyamakura, 38.
The State alleges that on September 4, 2023, Nyamakura needed 700 × 24 × 400 millilitres of Dairiboard cascades.
Muzariri, who used to sell Dairiboard products to Nyamakura before he was fired, allegedly lied to Nyamakura that he was still an employee of Abhu Dhabhi Investments Private Limited.
The court heard that he then received US$5 425 from Nyamakura, claiming he would deliver the cascades.
Muzariri allegedly wrote a tax invoice fraudulently representing Abhu Dhabi Investments.
He then went away with the money. Nyamakura later made a follow-up with Muzariri but he was nowhere to be found.
She allegedly went to Abhu Dhabi Investments only to realise that Muzariri had been fired from work for misconduct.
That is when she reported the matter to the police.
