Senior Citizens Coalition for Change official and former Harare-East legislator, Tendai Biti will not contest in the upcoming April 27 by-election, for his former constituency, with the party citing need to prioritise party stability efforts.
This comes as President Emmerson Mnangagwa declared 27 April by-election date for the two vacant Mount Pleasant and Harare East constituencies.
The seats fell vacant following the resignation of former elected Members of Parliament, Fadzai Mahere and Rusty Markham respectively.
In a statement, the CCC said that its focus for now will be on stabilising the party while pushing for electoral reforms in the country.
