The law is the law and that is it. Although Nqobani Ndlovu – a 33-year-old man from Maraposa Plot in Insiza, Matabeleland North Province – is arguing that he was in love with the teenage girl, he could not be forgiven after being caught red-handed having sex her in the bush.
He was arrested and dragged to court to answer charges of having sex with a minor.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to October 28.
The court heard that on 26 September at around 4pm, Ndlovu the girl who is in Grade Seven at a local school while on her way from school and proposed love to her.
The girl accepted his proposal. It is alleged that the following day at around 3pm, Ndlovu asked to have sex with the girl and she agreed.
Ndlovu reportedly took the girl to a nearby bush where he caressed and undressed her before having sex with her.
A passerby spotted the two love birds and raised alarm and the two lovers fled from the scene.
The passerby had positively identified the girl and proceeded to notify her parents, who confronted her over the issue.
She confessed that she was in love with Ndlovu and that they had been busted having sex in the bush.
A report was made to the police, leading to Ndlovu’s arrest and subsequent appearance in court.
