Alleged scammer in court for selling another person’s machine

A man who allegedly lied that he was selling a machine and made the complainant pay US$3 475 has appeared in court.

Lovemore Mangwende, 59, of Damafalls Phase 3, Ruwa, appeared before magistrate Ethel Chichera at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with fraud.

The complainant in this matter is Elvis Mukototsi, 36.

The State, through prosecutor Grace Mugocheke alleged that on August 8, Mangwende allegedly lied Mukototsi, that he was selling a calibration machine serial number HTA 279 for US$3 475.

Mukototsi became interested with the machine and paid the money.

He later discovered that the machine belonged to someone else and not Mangwende. That is when he filed a police report.

As a result, Mukototsi allegedly lost US$3 475.

Chichera ordered Mukototsi to deposit US$80 bail and also ordered him to appear in court on November 13.
