Due to major repairs on trunk mains, the chamber at the corner of Herbert Chitepo/Harare Street will be closed for three days beginning 1800hrs on March 10 to 0600hrs on March 13, according to the City of Harare town clerk, Engineer Mabhena Moyo.

"The City of Harare would like to advice its valued stakeholders that there shall be major pipe line repairs on inter-connectors to Lochivar, at Golden Quarry, the chamber at Longchen and Corner Herbert Chitepo and Harare Street," he said.

He said as the chamber will necessitate a road closure, motorists are to use alternative routes.

Engineer Moyo said the areas whose water supplies will be affected are: The Central Business District, Marlborough, Westgate, Avenues, Parirenyatwa Hospital, Milton Park, Malbereign, Tynwald, Warren Park, Westlea, Dzivarasekwa, Avondale, Mt Pleasant and a number of other surrounding northern suburbs.

He encouraged stakeholders to use water sparingly during the period.

Meanwhile, Mayor Jacob Mafume has called for a conference with City Parking saying that the city has noted concerns from the public on the issue of vehicle clamping in the Harare Central Business District.

He said at the conference, they are going to discuss recommendations they have received from the public to strike a balance between the fines and what people can afford.
