Dutch agricultural expertise is being combined with Zimbabwean entrepreneurship to improve production and processing in Zimbabwe’s dairy sector, following a visit by the Netherlands Embassy to Red Dane Farm and Kefalos.
The Embassy said the visit was aimed at seeing how cooperation between Dutch experts and Zimbabwean businesses is contributing to growth in the sector.
“Our team visited Red Dane Farm and Kefalos to see how Dutch dairy expertise and Zimbabwean entrepreneurship are combining to drive growth and innovation in the dairy sector,” the Netherlands Embassy to Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi said.
At Red Dane Farm, Dutch equipment and technical knowledge are being used to improve milk production, while experts from PUM, a Dutch organisation that provides practical expertise to businesses, are supporting the farm.
“It all starts at the farm. Dutch equipment and knowledge are making milk production more efficient and sustainable, with PUM dairy experts providing practical advice to solve challenges and grow the business,” the Embassy said.

The delegation also visited Kefalos, located about 400 metres from the farm, where milk is processed into a range of value-added products.
According to the Embassy, these include cheese, butter, cream, yoghurt, and ice cream, demonstrating how milk produced on the farm is being converted into different products for the market.
The Embassy said the cooperation between Dutch and Zimbabwean businesses was contributing to the development of the local dairy industry.
“Dutch-Zimbabwean cooperation is growing the local dairy sector, boosting food production and creating jobs,” it said.
The visit brought attention to the connection between agricultural production, processing, entrepreneurship and technical expertise in developing Zimbabwe’s dairy value chain.
