Dynamos Supporters Association president Adomsi Mukwasi Makosi has thrown his weight behind the club’s executive amid growing backlash from supporters following the Harare giants’ failure to complete their registration for the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.

Dynamos were left out of the continental competition after failing to resolve issues involving Saul Chaminuka within the stipulated deadline, leaving a section of the club’s supporters angry and disappointed.

Mukwasi, however, has called for forgiveness and urged supporters to acknowledge the progress made by the current executive despite the costly setback.

“Mistakes happen, but we also need to applaud where they did the best,” said Mukwasi.

“We are in pain as we had much happiness for the club to be back playing in the CAF Confederation after missing it in the 2025 season, but this is where we are. We all make mistakes and face challenges, so they need to be forgiven.”

The controversy has placed Dynamos’ executive under intense scrutiny, with supporters expressing mixed feelings over the club’s failure to secure a place in the Confederation Cup.

Dynamos executive chairman Vincent Chawonza has since apologised to the club’s supporters, stakeholders and sponsors, taking responsibility for the registration failure.

“I would like to apologise to our supporters, stakeholders and sponsors for failing to complete the CAF registration in time,” Chawonza said.

“I believe, as the executive chairman, this should have been done differently, and we could have handled it better than the way it came out.

“Not finger-pointing or blaming anyone, I would like to apologise and take full responsibility as the chairman.”

Despite the backlash, some Dynamos loyalists have come out in support of Chawonza and his executive, arguing that the current leadership has made significant progress in trying to rebuild the club.

Conwel Muzanenhamo praised Chawonza for what he described as efforts to bring stability to the club.

“Thank you Chairman for bringing stability to DeMbare. After all, cleaning the previous mess is not easy,” said Muzanenhamo in response to Chawonza’s apology.

Another supporter, Clemence Chihowa, urged fellow fans to remain patient and continue backing the executive.

“It happens, guys. Let’s continue our mission to lift up our beloved club from a down situation. We love you Chawonza, you’re doing a great job,” said Chihowa.

Solomon Nyazvigo was equally supportive, saying: “We support you, Mr Chairman. Apology accepted.”

Supporter Shumba Dhliwayo also defended Chawonza, arguing that his contribution to the club should not be overshadowed by one mistake.

“The guy has done more good than harm long term. However, it’s unfortunate that sometimes it takes one mistake to lose support,” said Dhliwayo.

“However, my verdict is all things equal and in good faith, great leaders don’t achieve by smooth sailing and lesson learnt, aluta continua. I like Chawonza, he should not stop. He brought sponsors, now a financial consultant, and auditors, something that could even be named during past chairmen. Iye asina kumbo resva pa basa in his whole life cast the first stone.”

The latest development has intensified debate within the Dynamos fraternity, with supporters divided between those demanding accountability over the CAF registration blunder and those calling for the executive to be given time to continue with its rebuilding programme.
