Thirty Zimbabwean children living with correctable disabilities are set to undergo life-changing surgery after Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe doubled its annual support to CURE Children's Hospital of Zimbabwe from US$25,000 to US$50,000.
The increased funding, announced on Friday, will cover surgical procedures for children suffering from conditions including bowed legs, knock knees, clubfoot, brittle bone disease, Weinsperger syndrome, acute trauma, burns and contractures.
The donation strengthens a partnership that began in 2023 and comes after last year's US$25,000 contribution funded operations for 15 children. The latest commitment doubles both the financial support and the number of beneficiaries to 30 children each year.
Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe Chief Executive Solomon Nyanhongo said the investment reflected the bank's commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children through access to specialised healthcare.
"Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe is proud to partner with CURE Children's Hospital of Zimbabwe, an institution that has transformed thousands of young lives through specialised surgical care. Since opening its doors in 2021, CURE has become a beacon of hope for children living with treatable disabilities such as clubfoot, cleft lip and palate, bowed legs, knock knees and other orthopaedic conditions," said Nyanhongo.
He said every operation represented more than a medical procedure.

Nyanhongo said the bank had decided to expand the partnership after witnessing the impact of last year's programme.
"Our partnership is rooted in a shared commitment to restoring dignity, opportunity and hope. Last year, Stanbic Bank committed US$25,000, helping CURE perform life-changing surgeries on 15 children. Today, we are proud to double that commitment to US$50,000 and assist CURE Children's Hospital in performing life-changing surgeries each year, providing hope, healing and a brighter future for children and families across Zimbabwe," he said.
He added that the initiative aligns with the bank's purpose of investing beyond financial services.
"By supporting CURE Children's Hospital, we are helping to build a healthier Zimbabwe, where every child can realise their full potential," said Nyanhongo.
CURE Children's Hospital of Zimbabwe Executive Director Jonathan Simpson welcomed the increased support, saying it would allow more children to receive specialised treatment that many families would otherwise struggle to afford.
