Hippo Valley Estates has appointed Tongaat Hulett Chief Executive Officer Gavin Dalgleish as a non-executive director to its board with effect from July 1, 2026.
The appointment was announced by the company in a statement.
Dalgleish, who has served as Tongaat Hulett's chief executive officer since April 1, 2025, is a chemical engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Natal, South Africa.

He brings nearly two decades of experience in the sugar industry, having previously held several senior leadership positions at Illovo Sugar Africa, including Group Operations Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The board said Dalgleish's industry expertise would strengthen the company's leadership.
"He brings to the Board leadership and transformation skills together with valuable sugar industry experience," the company said.
