Sabi Gold Mine FC have boosted their Central Region Soccer League survival hopes after ending a poor run of form with a draw and a victory that lifted the club away from the relegation zone.
The Zvishavane-based side made a promising start to their maiden Division One campaign, winning two of their opening matches. However, their form dipped significantly, with the team managing just one victory in their next eight matches before suffering four consecutive defeats.
The run left Sabi with three wins from their opening 11 league fixtures and under increasing pressure near the bottom of the table.
Their fortunes began to improve with a draw away to Dulibadzimu United in Beitbridge, which ended the losing streak, before they followed it with a home win over MSU. The victory moved Sabi to 12th place after 16 matches.
Although Sabi have registered wins over Matobo FC, Shurugwi FC, ZRP Gwanda and MSU this season, the team has struggled for goals, contributing to inconsistent results.
Head coach Kumbulani Msendeki said competition for places during the transfer window had provided extra motivation within the squad.

"It was a sweet win after a difficult run. It's a big morale booster for the team. The transfer window has everyone motivated and fighting for their place," Msendeki told ZimNow Sports.
He said the players responded well under pressure but stressed that improvements were still needed.
"Their contributions were important as we needed this win, but it was a good team performance. We need better tactical discipline in defence and must be more clinical in front of goal."
Msendeki said he hopes the result will mark a turning point as Sabi look to climb further away from the relegation places.
"It's a massive confidence boost for the players, and better days are coming."
Sabi's recent improvement follows a difficult period in which some supporters questioned the team's performances after a four-match losing streak.
Despite the poor results, the club's leadership maintained its support for the technical team, citing injuries, the squad's adjustment to Division One football and the need for reinforcements during the transfer window as factors that affected the team's early-season form.
