Zimbabwe Warriors defender and former Dynamos captain Emmanuel Jalai is being linked with a surprise loan move from South African Betway Premiership side Durban City to reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland FC as the ambitious club looks to strengthen its squad ahead of the CAF Champions League campaign in August.
Although negotiations are still ongoing and no agreement has been concluded, according to journalist Tafadzwa Chigandiwa, sources close to the developments say the former Dynamos captain has emerged as one of Scottland's top transfer targets.
"Jalai is one of the top priorities Scottland are looking to bring on board. He has always been their target, with club owner Scott Sakupwanya believed to be a long-time admirer of the player," a source said.
"He could be on his way back to Zimbabwe for a loan stint because of the partnership between Scottland and Durban City. The relationship between the two clubs makes the move possible."

The proposed switch comes just months after Scottland and Durban City signed a five year multimillion dollar partnership aimed at player development, technical cooperation and facilitating player movement between the two clubs. The agreement is expected to play a key role in any potential deal involving Jalai.
Jalai joined Durban City in January after leaving Dynamos as a free agent following the expiry of his contract. The Zimbabwe international signed a long term deal after impressing during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he featured in all three of the Warriors' group matches and provided an assist against Egypt. His performances attracted interest from several clubs before Durban City secured his signature.
Before moving to South Africa, Jalai spent six seasons at Dynamos, making more than 180 appearances and captaining the Harare giants for three seasons. He also helped DeMbare win three consecutive Chibuku Super Cup titles and established himself as one of Zimbabwe's most consistent right backs.
Scottland have long admired the 27-year-old defender and were among the clubs that attempted to sign him before his move to South Africa. However, Jalai opted to pursue an overseas challenge with Durban City after his impressive AFCON displays caught the attention of the South African outfit.
Should the loan materialise, Jalai would become one of Scottland's marquee additions as the club prepares for its maiden CAF Champions League campaign, with the Zimbabwean champions eager to assemble a squad capable of competing against the continent's elite.
