Five Duped in US$3k Nursing Placement Scheme

A 39-year-old woman from Eastview appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Court facing fraud charges after allegedly duping five people out of US$3,000 by falsely claiming she could secure nursing and nurse aide placements at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.

Judith Ruzvidzo was remanded in custody and is expected to return to court on June 23 while investigations continue.

The court heard that in February 2026, one of the complainants received a call from Ruzvidzo, who is reportedly a friend, claiming she had the capacity to facilitate enrolment into nursing programmes at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals. She allegedly encouraged the complainant to recruit other interested candidates.

According to the State, on February 15, 2026, at around midday, the complainant met Ruzvidzo at her Eastview residence in the company of Agnes Juma. During the meeting, the complainant and Juma each allegedly handed over US$600 to secure nursing placements.

The court heard that Ruzvidzo later received similar payments from three other individuals, bringing the total amount allegedly collected to US$3,000.

It is alleged that she promised the complainants that nursing and nurse aide positions would be secured by May 15, 2026.

However, when the complainants began making follow-ups the following day, they were reportedly unable to reach her. Efforts by the other alleged victims to contact Ruzvidzo were also unsuccessful, with her phone reportedly going unanswered.

The complainants subsequently realised they had allegedly been defrauded and reported the matter to the police.

On May 27, 2026, the investigating officer allegedly located and arrested Ruzvidzo at her residence in Eastview.

She is scheduled to return to court on June 23, 2026.
