Suspected Guruve serial killer Anymore Zvitsva has been sentenced to 89 years in prison after being convicted of 10 counts of rape, attempted murder, and robbery by a Harare magistrate.
The convictions relate to a string of violent crimes committed in the Guruve area of Mashonaland Central. Zvitsva’s arrest and prosecution brought a measure of relief to the community, which had lived in fear during the attacks.

While the 89-year sentence closes one chapter, Zvitsva is still facing trial at the High Court on numerous counts of murder in the province.
