ZIFA Suspends Referee Toddy Matenga Over Controversial Match Decision

The Zimbabwe Football Association has suspended match official Toddy Matenga for six weeks following a controversial decision that influenced the outcome of a Premier Soccer League fixture.

In a statement, ZIFA confirmed that Matenga will not officiate matches from matchday 8 to matchday 13. The decision follows a report submitted by the match commissioner regarding a league encounter between Hunters FC and CAPS United played at Rufaro Stadium on 11 April 2026.

According to the statement, Matenga was found to have made an incorrect decision that had a direct impact on the result of the match.

“The suspension follows a report by the match commissioner in which the official was found to have made an incorrect decision that affected the outcome of the game,” ZIFA said.

“ZIFA remains committed to maintaining high standards of integrity, professionalism and accountability in match officiating,” the association said.
