Africa Mineral Ventures (AMV) has dismissed reports that it has pulled out of the Manica Diamonds senior team project. The company called the story “fake news.”
An article published this week claimed AMV had “officially pulled out of the Manica Diamonds senior team project, bringing an abrupt end to its short lived involvement with the Premier Soccer League outfit.” It also said Agrum was now “the new sole owner and custodian of the Manica Diamonds senior team.”
“There is no truth to these claims. AMV remains fully committed to Manica Diamonds Football Club, including the senior team,” said AMV Executive Director . “This is fake news meant to cause confusion. Our partnership with the club is still strong.”
The article further claimed that “players and members of the technical team were reportedly instructed not to wear any apparel branded with Africa Mineral Ventures” during the Hardrock FC match. It added that “the team was forced to rely on hired public transport for their trip to GreenFuel… unlike in their previous fixture where the club used Africa Mineral Ventures Football Club team bus.”

“Our team bus was in for service. That is why we used other transport. There was no instruction about branded clothes. Our players still wear AMV kit. People should stop spreading lies,” he said.
AMV confirmed it continues to support all levels of the club. This includes the PSL senior team, the Rusape-based Division One side, and the Manica Diamonds junior development structures.
“Our work with Manica Diamonds has not changed. We are planning for the rest of the season together with our partners,” added.
Manica Diamonds FC officials have not commented on the matter.
