ZIFA Targets Strategic Gains from FIFA Forward 4.0 Engagement

Zimbabwe’s football leadership is positioning itself to benefit from the next wave of global investment and structural reform, as the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) steps deeper into continental and international decision-making spaces.

At a high-level gathering in Nairobi, ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi joined fellow leaders from COSAFA and CECAFA to help shape how the FIFA Forward Programme 4.0 will be implemented across Africa. The meeting, guided by FIFA officials including Gelson Fernández and Samson Adamu, focused on aligning regional priorities with global football development strategies.

Rather than simply a funding mechanism, Forward Programme 4.0 is being framed as a blueprint for long-term transformation. Its emphasis on governance, infrastructure, and competitive performance signals a shift toward measurable outcomes and sustainable growth for member associations.

For Zimbabwe, the engagement highlights a strategic pivot, moving from participation to influence. By actively contributing to discussions at this level, ZIFA is aiming to ensure that future investments directly address local needs such as modern facilities, stronger administrative systems, and more competitive national teams.

“This is a defining moment for Zimbabwean football. Our goal is not only to access funding, but to ensure that every initiative under the FIFA Forward Programme translates into visible progress, from grassroots structures to national team success,” said Magwizi.
