Watermark Technologies, a leading engineering and water infrastructure firm, has partnered with the Harare City Council to upgrade and replace the Amalinda pipeline in a move aimed at reducing pollution in Lake Chivero.
In an interview with the Herald, Watermark Technologies managing director Mr Lovejoy Mutawarira said the pipeline had been causing significant pollution in Lake Chivero.
“This is one of the measures that the City of Harare is taking in partnership with the Government to address the pollution. The pipes have started to be delivered,” he said.

Harare Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume said the council is pleased with the upcoming work.
“It’s a stretch of 2 500 kilometres. They will start the work within the next 30 days.
“We are sure that the Government will assist us as it has been doing on several other issues so that we can take care of this pipe. It is a long pipeline that goes up to Simon Mazorodze and Mukuvisi Woodlands,” he said.
“These steel pipes were corroding. The new pipes will not react to chemicals and gases,” he said.
