A 43-year-old alleged armed robber popularly known as “Bishop” in religious circles has appeared before the Harare Magistrates Court facing charges linked to a US$22 108 armed robbery at Honey Pot Maheu in Hatfield.
Tonderai Muzira appeared before regional magistrate Jesse Kufa, represented by lawyer Moffat Makuvatsine, who was advised to approach the High Court for bail consideration.
Prosecutor Oscar Madhume told the court that Muzira allegedly participated in a carefully planned robbery carried out on May 19, 2025, at Honey Pot Maheu premises located at number 2699 Arlington Industrial Area in Hatfield, Harare.
According to the State, Muzira allegedly acted in connivance with accomplices who have since been arrested.
“The accused person, together with his accomplices, armed themselves with pistols, iron bars and hammers before proceeding to Honey Pot Maheu where they executed the robbery,” Madhume submitted.

The court heard that upon arrival, the suspects allegedly attacked security guards stationed at the premises, assaulting them before forcing one guard to remove his uniform, which was then worn by one of the accused persons.
“They ordered all victims to lie down before tying their hands and legs using cellotape,” the prosecutor said.
The gang allegedly marched the guards to a workshop area where other employees had gathered, subdued everyone on site and proceeded to the accounts office.
“The accused persons blasted open a safe and stole cash amounting to US$22 108 before fleeing from the scene in a getaway vehicle,” Madhume told the court.
Prosecutors further alleged that Muzira is not new to robbery-related accusations. He was previously implicated in a 2022 robbery at ZX Fuels Company involving more than US$380 000 and is also facing another pending robbery case in Mutare.
The court heard that detectives from the CID Homicide unit received information linking Muzira to the Hatfield robbery on April 5, 2026, leading to his arrest at his residence.
Muzira remains in custody as investigations continue.
